    A note from the author:

This novel is genre fiction that entertains, but it hides literary devices of speculative fiction below the surface. I wrote it as an allegory for many things, but especially how religion and the appearance of “goodness” can be used to commit atrocities. I also wrote this in a deep point of view with unreliable narrators to craft fantasy metaphors for real-life emotional abuse and coercion. So, it does get quite dark—and that’s why it’s important to check in with yourself and your mental health before you read this book. It can be triggering. Everyone interprets it a little bit differently depending on their life experiences, which is one of the many things I love about writing. If this story resonates strongly with you, that’s probably because I poured my heart into it, and you can hear it beating. Let that be a comfort. Let it remind you that you’re not alone. This is still a romance series at its core, and there is a healing journey to be made. We grow through what we go through.

  • Be Not Afraid is a modern Gothic Romance / Dark Fantasy horror series set in a divergence of modern-day Earth. It is not considered Christian fiction, but rather a fantasy story featuring rich lore inspired by Christian literature/lore (i.e. the Holy Bible, Revelation) and apocryphal texts (i.e. the Book of Enoch).

If the idea of portraying angels, God, or the church as dynamic entities with fallible morals—including the possibility for corruption, flaws, deviousness, and hypocrisy—is deeply offensive to your personally held religious beliefs, then this is likely not the book for you.

  • Currently, three books are planned to conclude the main storyline, with potential for a standalone sequel. There will be a happily ever after in the series!
